Sunrun

In 2007, Sunrun co-Founders Ed Fenster and Lynn Jurich set out to make home solar mainstream. Upfront cost was a huge barrier to home solar adoption, so they invented the model now known as “solar service.” Sunrun allows homeowners to pay for solar power, not the panels. This means Sunrun owns, maintains, and monitors the system while homeowners pay for the electricity it produces. Each business day, we install $2 million worth of solar and facilitate one solar installation every 10 minutes. Our network of more than 30 leading solar installers employs more than 3,000 people.

Boulder Energy Future Project

Utility Development Project, works on a variety of  programs related to securing a clean energy future for the Boulder community. The most high-profile aspect of Energy Future’s work is the effort to form a local city electric utility, a process also called municipalization. In 2011, Boulder voters directed the city to explore options that could deliver clean, reliable, low-cost, local energy. Teams of world-class consultants and community working groups undertook an unprecedented analysis of the challenges and opportunities of possible solutions, including creating a local electric utility, rather than continuing to receive electric service from current monopoly provider and investor-owned utility Xcel Energy. The Energy Future Team continues to work on municipalization and other means of achieving Boulder’s clean energy goals.
